As expected, Apple CEO Tim Cook unveiled the latest iPhone 16 smartphone in Cupertino, California.
This phone comes in new colors – "ultramarine", "teal" and pink. It's water and dust resistant and has a new glass-ceramic display, which they say is 50 percent stronger than the previous model and twice as strong as "any other smartphone."
It will be available in 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch models in the base and Plus models. Both will have a new customizable action button on the left side, Telegraph reports.
You can program the Action button to do different things depending on the time of day. It also has a new “camera control” feature.
This control is located on the side of the iPhone 16 and you can slide your finger to adjust the camera settings, which will be less visible on these models.
Also introduced is the A18 Bionic, which has the latest 6-core CPU with 2 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores.
The CPU is up to 30 percent faster than the CPU in the iPhone 15. As for Apple Intelligence, the company has emphasized that it mainly takes care of security features.
"Apple Intelligence is integrated into the entire system," say Apple. Writing tools have been added, as well as new emoticons that users can create by typing a description. Users will be able to access old photos in albums by describing what's in them.
Siri is also getting an Apple Intelligence upgrade, getting better at understanding even when you give it vague instructions.
Siri can now also provide instructions on how to use the iPhone, which will be especially useful for older users. They also introduced visual intelligence.
"Let's say you come across a new restaurant while you're walking. You can take out your iPhone 16, point the camera at it, click the control button, and you'll see information about the bar's schedule and menu. You can do this with flyers on walls, when dogs walk past you, and much more," explained Apple.
It is designed to be easy to use and can be activated in landscape or portrait orientation.
Clicking on it opens the camera app, or you can just click again to take a photo. Click and hold to start recording video.
It will also recognize touch gestures and be able to distinguish between a “full click” and a “lighter press”.
A light press can help you focus, and it also opens a new layer to pull up and adjust other settings like aperture or focus. It can also be used in apps like Snapchat.
The main camera of the phone is 48 megapixels. The dual lenses have been moved from last year's diagonal layout to vertical. The camera offers 2x "optical quality" telephoto, using detail from large image files.
The ultra-wide camera has also been updated to include autofocus. Apple says the sensor is capable of capturing up to 2.6x more light for low-light images. It can also shoot macro mode images.
The new vertical design allows the phone to record photos and videos that can be viewed on the Vision Pro headset.
The price of the iPhone 16 will be $799 and the iPhone 16 Plus will be $899.
A Pro model was also introduced with a 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch screen in the Pro and Pro Max, which are the largest iPhone screens to date.
A new Desert Titanium color was also introduced. They have thinner bezels than previous models, support ProMotion, Always-on Display and have a ceramic shield. The battery has also been improved.
The iPhone 16 Pro will be powered by the A18 Pro chip, which is faster than the A18. It uses the same 3nd generation 16nm design and has a 17-core 'neural engine' that is faster and more efficient than the AXNUMX Pro.
