Prime Minister Kurti's advisor, Jeton Zulfaj, has accused President Vjosa Osmani of violating the Constitution by issuing the decree to dissolve the Parliament.
Speaking about the amendments sent by Osmani to the Assembly yesterday, which envisage the election of the President directly by the people, Zulfaj said that his "blindness" did not allow him to see the part where the amendments enter into force only after six months.
"Last night, a few hours before the start of the session to elect the president, President Vjosa Osmani sent the Speaker of the Assembly amendments to amend the Constitution. President Vjosa Osmani has been elected president for a full five years and, if she were moved by goodwill for the republic, she could have done this much earlier, so that today we would be in time for the election of the president by the people. Why didn't she do this on time?"
Osmani said at today's morning conference that through those amendments, he did not intend for her to run for office or for her successor in this position, but that it applies to the president after five years.
"Today at the conference she said that "I didn't do it for myself". So why in the last few days? If her action was not to find a solution for herself at this time, but for a future president for the year 2031, then this seems a futile action, because these processes could have been initiated by the future president from the beginning of his or her mandate. But the truth is different. The truth is that the zeal for power seems to be so great as to be blinding and does not allow you to see the part where the amendments come into force only after six months."
In the end, Zulfaj criticized her for attacking the entity "that made her president," referring to Vetëvendosje.
"The same zeal and indifference pushed her to make the next mistake today, by assuming a power that does not belong to her. After five years that Vetëvendosje gave her the opportunity to serve in the highest position of the state, instead of completing her mandate with dignity, she chose as her final act the violation of the Constitution and the attack on the entity that made her president. A dishonorable legacy."
