The Basic Prosecution Office in Ferizaj, specifically the Department for Serious Crimes, has filed indictments today against two defendants, Festim Ramadani and JM from Ferizaj, on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of "Aggravated Murder".
This is about the case that occurred in August 2024, when Sadri Sadriu, uncle of Prindon Sadriu, the first gentleman and husband of President Vjosa Osmani, was killed in the parking lot of the "Fron Palace" restaurant.
The prosecution emphasizes that Festim Ramadani, at around 19:21 PM on August 16, during a wedding ceremony, intentionally and premeditatedly, for alleged but unfounded and legally unconfirmed family motives, with an official Kosovo Police weapon, fired a volley of bullets at Sadri Sadriu.
"According to the indictment of the Prosecution, there is a well-founded suspicion that the defendant FR, on August 16, 2024, at around 19:21, in the parking lot of the "Fron Palace" restaurant, in the village of Bibaj, Ferizaj municipality, during a wedding ceremony, intentionally and premeditatedly, with the aim of revenge for alleged unfounded and legally unconfirmed family motives, in the presence of dozens of persons, including minors, with an official automatic police weapon, with the intention and intent of depriving him of life, fired a volley of bullets at the victim SS, depriving him of life, where, as a result of the shooting, the safety of other persons present at that moment was seriously endangered, with this act he committed the criminal offense of "Aggravated Murder" under Article 173 paragraph 1, subparagraphs 1.8 and 1.11 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo," the Prosecution's announcement states.
Meanwhile, JM is accused of having provided assistance to Festim Ramadani to take the victim's life, securing the perimeter and preventing any interference that could prevent FR from carrying out the murder.
"Whereas, the defendant JM, on August 16, 2024, at around 19:21, in the village of Bibaj, Ferizaj municipality, in the parking lot of the "Fron Palace" restaurant, during a wedding ceremony, intentionally assisted the defendant FR in the deprivation of the life of the victim SS, so that, equipped with a sharp weapon, he protected the perimeter of the attack and prevented any interference, so that the defendant F,R., could carry out the criminal offense of aggravated murder without hindrance, with this act of assistance he committed the criminal offense of "Aggravated Murder" under Article 173 paragraph 1, subparagraphs 1.8 and 1.11, in connection with Article 33 of the Criminal Code", the Prosecution's announcement continues.
The prosecutor of the case, on the occasion of the indictment, has proposed to the Court that after the holding of the judicial review, the administration of the evidence and their evaluation, the aforementioned defendants be declared guilty of the criminal offenses for which they are accused and punished according to the law.
In 2024, this event caused a huge stir as it was claimed that the murder was carried out in revenge for a family incident. There were also reports that the parents of Sadriu and Vjosa Osmani themselves were aware of the fight between the two related families.
President Vjosa Osmani reacted at the time by saying that neither she nor her husband had anything to do with the circumstances that led to the murder of Sadri Sadriu, much less the rape case that was alleged to be the main motive for the murder.
"I inform the citizens of Kosovo that neither I nor my husband have any knowledge or connection to the circumstances leading to last night's murder, much less any knowledge of any case of rape," Osmani wrote in her reaction.
