Italian Rolando Maran is the new coach of the Albanian National Team, taking charge of the Rossoneri after a period of about a year without commitment on the bench.
For about a year, the Italian coach has been without a team, and now the Albanian Football Federation has entrusted him with the management of the national team, with the aim of bringing stability and experience to the red and black bench.
Maran, born on July 14, 1963 in Italy, is a coach with extensive experience in Italian football, both in Serie A and Serie B. He was also a footballer before, where he developed his career as a defender mainly at Chievo Verona, a club with which he spent a significant part of his years as a player.
After retiring from active football in 1997, Maran immediately began his coaching career, initially in the youth system of Chievo, then moving on to clubs such as Brescia, Cittadella, Bari, Triestina and Vicenza in Serie B. He became more well-known in the elite of Italian football while managing Catania, where in his first season he achieved a historic 8th place in Serie A, recording one of the club's most successful seasons.
Maran then managed Chievo for several seasons in Serie A, as well as Cagliari, where he initially achieved good results and temporarily put the team in the race for European places, but then the results fell. He also had experience at Genoa and Pisa, while his last engagement was at Brescia, where he left at the end of 2024.
Maran is known for his tactically organized style and careful work with teams in the defensive phase, while it remains to be seen how he will adapt to Albania's football and objectives in upcoming international matches.
