On the eve of the opening of the last chapter of the accession negotiations with the European Union, the building of the Albanian Mission to the European Union has also opened its doors in Brussels. Prime Minister Edi Rama shared the news with his followers on social media this morning, sharing footage from the opening ceremony.
"Good morning and with the ceremonial evening of the opening of the doors of the Albanian Mission to the European Union building, on the eve of the opening of the last group chapter of the accession negotiations this morning, I wish you all a good week," Rama writes.
Also present at this ceremony was Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos, who praised the progress and concrete results of our country and said that she feels like the fourth ambassador of Albania in Brussels.
"I feel myself... sorry, like the fourth ambassador of Albania here in Brussels. Yes, you are delivering results. The second reason is that you are not just talking, you are implementing. We see the works. I cannot express to you how happy I am when I have the opportunity to explain with facts that you have made a truly gigantic progress and it is all thanks to your work.
I always like to emphasize, there is no accession process without a committed leadership, which does not go back to the past looking for excuses why something is impossible, but you have a leadership or you have a leader, who looks to the future to discern or seek the reasons and answers why something is possible. This is – and I would say don't quote me – this is one of the biggest differences between Albania and some other countries from the Western Balkans. Of course, dear Prime Minister, dear Edi, I am talking about you and I will close by saying: “This is your new home”. My task is to bring you, Albania, home, to Europe”, Kos said.
For his part, Prime Minister Edi Rama pointed out the difference between the former and present reality in relations with the EU, stating that the environment is now positive and energetic.
"In the past, when we came, it would rain and be cold outside and it would rain and be cold inside. It's different now. Whatever's outside, it's warm inside and full of positive energy, positive faces and nice smiles. We're not used to this, Marta, so it's extraordinary to finally experience this, which is ongoing all year round and is becoming permanent. I want to thank you all sincerely for being here and thank you sincerely and with all my heart for the work of each and every one of you," Rama said at the ceremony.
Meanwhile, Albania's ambassador to the European Union, Ferit Hoxha, said that his country believes in Europe and has a government committed to the integration process.
"It is very comfortable for me to defend the cause of Albania today, because I represent a country and society that has never lost faith in Europe, a government with an unwavering political commitment to the EU and ready to seize every second."
