The Chairman of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Lumir Abdixhiku, recalled the path to Kosovo's independence, during his speech at the solemn session in the Assembly.
At the foundation of this path, he said, "lies the political philosophy of the founding father of our Republic, the historic president Dr. Ibrahim Rugova, and the entire peaceful movement of the '90s."
Abdixhiku said that Rugova gave "historical, epochal orientation" to the country and "turned it into an international issue."
“The peaceful movement was not an easy solution,” he said. He said it was “a rejection of hatred and revenge as political tools.”
He also mentioned the KLA war and Prekaz, who he said "awakened the national conscience when injustice had reached its final limit."
Today, Abdixhiku said there are "many reasons to be proud."
