The leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Lumir Abdixhiku, has stated that during the talks with the Vetëvendosje Movement, no other name was discussed for the post of president, except for that of Glauk Konjufca.
He emphasized that the LDK's stance was against this proposal, not for personal reasons towards Konjufca, but because of his party position.
"With LDK, Vetëvendosje has not discussed a single name other than Glauk Konjufca. We have had a position regarding him, not for the person, but because of the party position he holds, that he cannot be president of Kosovo," said Abdixhiku.
According to him, this was one of the main reasons why no agreement was reached on the president's issue.
"This was the reason why we went to the interpretation of the Constitutional Court, so why we missed the deadline, we were given 44 more days. And we are still in the same position as before the Constitutional Court's decision. But I tried, I tried to find a solution for the president of Kosovo. I have not opened other discussions. I have not opened discussions for either the executive or the speaker of the assembly, because the issue is for the president. The moment we had addressed the issue of the president, we could have addressed other issues. And we have never asked for any position for the LDK, much less for me. That is, we have had principled positions. Later, if we had agreed on principled proposals, then we would have opened the phase of other discussions," he said.
