The Food and Veterinary Agency (AVV) carried out 1.221 extraordinary inspections before the Easter holidays, imposing fines in the amount of over 19.000 euros in the denar equivalent.

As reported by the AUV, more than 272 kilograms of unsafe food were destroyed, most of which was of animal origin.

In addition, over 40 tons of unsafe eggs originating from Serbia, which were prevented from entering the market, were safely destroyed at the Drisla landfill.

"For the identified non-conformities, 35 decisions were made to eliminate them and six warnings were issued.", announced by the AUVA.

The inspections revealed a number of violations, including placing expired food, using frozen meat in the preparation of products, and improper food labeling.

During the inspections, it was determined that seven facilities were not registered as food operators, three did not conduct mandatory health examinations for employees, while 13 operators were found to have unsatisfactory hygienic and technical conditions.

The AUV announces that the controls were aimed at all segments of the food chain, with the aim of preventing the placement of unsafe products and suppressing illegal trade in anticipation of the holidays.
