One of the most common morning drinks could be the secret to a long life. According to renowned Spanish cardiologist, Dr. Aurelio Rojas, drinking coffee in the morning can increase longevity and significantly reduce the risk of heart attack.

Dr. Rojas, 35, who works at the Regional University Hospital in Malaga, Spain, shared the results of an important study on his Instagram, where he is followed by more than 400 people.

The study, conducted by the Obesity Research Center at Tulane University in New Orleans, followed 20,000 people for over 20 years and compared the health outcomes of those who drank coffee with those who did not.

What did the researchers discover?

Coffee drinkers were 16% less likely to die during the ten years of the study.

They were 30% less likely to die from heart disease.

But this protection only applied to those who drank coffee in the morning – those who drank it throughout the day did not benefit from the same effects.

Dr. Rojas explains that caffeine after noon can disrupt the body's circadian rhythm - the natural cycle of sleep and wakefulness - by negatively affecting the hormones melatonin and cortisol, and increasing stress levels.

“So, yes – enjoy your coffee early in the morning,” he emphasized.

Why is coffee so good for health?

Coffee beans are rich in:

Vitamins B2 and B5, which help with blood cell health and cholesterol control.

Potassium and magnesium, essential for controlling blood pressure and sugar levels.

Herbal compounds that reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes by up to 10%.

Another joint study between Semmelweis University in Hungary and Queen Mary in London showed that morning coffee significantly reduces the risk of stroke.

How much coffee should you drink?

Studies in Singapore showed that those who drank four cups of coffee or more a day were about 50% less likely to become physically frail in old age.

Also, daily drinkers of black or green tea had an 18% lower chance of physical frailty later in life.

The combination of caffeine and antioxidant compounds is believed to slow cell damage and help prevent chronic diseases such as heart disease and some types of cancer.

Careful!

Coffee can be beneficial, but only when consumed in moderation and in the morning. Excessive consumption or late-night consumption can cause insomnia, stress, and hormonal disorders. /Express newspaper/
