North Macedonia continues to create a difficult political environment, which seems to have recently become part of sports.
In the match played two days ago between Vardar and Tikves (7-0), valid for the North Macedonian championship, another serious incident against Albanians was recorded.
The Vardar team's ultras fan group, "Komiti", were heard chanting:
"A dead Albanian is a good Albanian."
Footage of anti-Albanian chants was published on the online website "Patriotski drustvo", but was removed after about 30 minutes.
These chants are not new in North Macedonian stadiums, but this time they come after numerous protests by Albanian students in the neighboring country, who demand to take exams in the Albanian language.
Regarding the Vardar fans incident, the Ministry of Internal Affairs confirmed that a criminal offense of "violence and improper behavior at a sports match" has been committed, which is punishable by a fine of 600-1000 euros for individuals, and 1500-5000 euros for the club if it fails to prevent such behavior.
