A fight between a man from Kosovo and his girlfriend's brothers culminated in a bloody knife attack on Friday evening in the Meidling district of Vienna.
Shortly before 20:00 p.m., two brothers (Austrian citizens) aged 27 and 30 went to pick up their sister from her apartment. But her boyfriend, a 37-year-old man from Kosovo, objected to this decision and a dispute arose between the three men, Austrian media reported, according to albinfo.at.
It was loud at first, then it became physical. The Kosovar is suspected of stabbing his girlfriend's younger brother. The extent of the injuries is unknown. The older brother responded by hitting the suspect.
The pair ends up in the hospital
Austrian police issued a statement: They managed to temporarily arrest the 37-year-old at the scene. He and his opponent, ten years younger, received first aid from paramedics who had also been called to the scene and were taken to hospital.
After a stay in the hospital, the alleged perpetrator was released pending charges. He was also issued a protection order, a restraining order, and a temporary weapons ban.
