The Central Inspectorate of Market Surveillance announced that it has conducted a wide-ranging surveillance and inspection campaign of children's toys and said that as a result of inspections carried out in customs areas, over 38,000 pieces of children's toys, worth approximately 100,000 euros, have been detained, which did not meet the legal requirements for product safety and did not possess the relevant documentation for placing on the domestic market.
Meanwhile, during controls in the domestic market, over 2,547 pieces of children's toys were seized, which were found not to meet safety standards.
The Inspectorate said that the purpose of this action was to guarantee the safety of products placed on the domestic market and protect consumers, with a particular focus on the safety and health of children.
"As part of this action, increased controls have been carried out both in the domestic market and in customs areas, to prevent the entry and circulation of toys that do not meet the required safety standards set out in Regulation No. 02/2017 on Toy Safety. Through these actions, it is aimed to ensure that safe products in compliance with legal standards are available on the market, thus contributing to the protection of the health and well-being of citizens."
The Central Inspectorate of Market Surveillance said that it will continue with regular controls and such actions in the future, while also inviting economic operators to fully respect legal requirements and safety standards for the products they place on the market. /Express/
