A new date has been set for the Specialist Chambers in The Hague to deliver a verdict in the case of former KLA leaders. The Specialist Court said July 20 is the deadline for the court to deliver its verdict. But even that is not certain, as there could be another postponement if the Trial Chamber “deems it absolutely necessary.”

This was stated by the spokesperson of the Special, Angela Griep, in a response to Gazeta Express today. She said that the Trial Panel has issued a decision to extend the deadline for the announcement of the Judgment for another 60 days, until Monday, July 20, 2026, due to the "complexity of the case."

This date is not the date of the announcement of the verdict, but only the date of the extended deadline, she explained, while warning that there may be another date after July 20th.

"The Trial Panel added that, if a further extension becomes absolutely necessary, it will issue an appropriate order in due course," she said.

The announcement of the verdict was scheduled for May 19, according to procedural deadlines.

In the closing arguments of the trial for war crimes and crimes against humanity at the Special Court in The Hague, the former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army – Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi – again declared themselves innocent, saying that the charges against them were not proven during the trial.

They gave their final word in February of this year.
