Acting President and Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu, today, when commemorating the life and work of veteran Sali Çekaj, also stated to the media, emphasizing that "citizens do not want elections at this moment." Therefore, she stated that the country should not go to elections., wishing consensus among political parties.
Asked by journalists whether he would invite political parties to a meeting to elect the president, Haxhiu said:
"I am not responsible for inviting political parties to meetings. The meetings are being called by Prime Minister Kurti, as party leader and prime minister and as someone who has 66 deputies in the Kosovo Assembly with the coalition," Haxhiu told reporters, according to Express.
"If the parties expect an invitation from me, I will invite them, but I have not seen any requests," she added.
According to her, "What is needed is to respond positively to Prime Minister Kurti's invitations because they can serve as regards the election of the president. I think it is very important that the country does not go to extraordinary elections, we have a lot of work ahead of us, not only within but also for developments outside our country, so we must be attentive", she said.
