The Constitutional Court of Kosovo has decided unanimously the country will hold no new elections after no confidence vote in in Albin Kurti’s Government and paves the way for vorting of a new government in Parliament.
The Judges, with seven votes in favour and two against, have also decided on deadlines of the prime minister designate to form new Government. President Hashim Thaci mandated Avdullah Hoti of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) to form new Government but the Vetevendosje asked the Constitutional Court’s interpretation on the constitutionality of President’s decree.
All Kosovo political parties represented in Parliament but the Vetevendosje asked formation of a new Government without organizing new elections and pledged to accept the Constitutional Court’s ruling.
The Vetevendosje however is asking Kosovo hold early elections, whereas leader of the party and caretaker prime minister, Albin Kurti, said his party will respect the Court’s decision, as long as the Court interprets the Constitution. Ahead of today’s Constitutional Court’s ruling the Vetevendosje activists staged what they called a “rehearsal protest” in Pristina, asking new elections. Their political opponents said the protest exerts pressure on the Court’s work, but the Vetevendosje denied the claims. /GazetaExpress/
