CEC to announce final election results today at 11:00

The Central Elections Commission (CEC) will announce today at 11:00 final results of early parliamentary elections held on 14 February, Gazeta Express reports.  

The CEC spokesman, Valmir Elezi, in a press release confirmed announcing of the final results, after the CEC counted all votes on Wednesday. According to a statement issued by the CEC< after announcing of the final results, political parties or candidates have the right of appealing the results at the Complaints and Appeals Panel within 24 hours. The CEC explained that potential appeals of the results might further delay certification of the election results, a process which paves the way to constitute the Assembly of Kosovo.

The Assembly should be constituted within 30 days after certification of elections. This is formal process and no delays are expected and the new parliamentary composition is expected to be constituted within March.

Based on preliminary results, the Vetevendosje movement has won the election followed by the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), and Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK). After count of all votes, the Vetevendosje has won 58 seats in a 120-seat Parliament of Kosovo. The PDK as second ranked party won 19 seats, to be followed by the LDK with 15 seats, Srpska List 10 seats, non-Serb communities 10 seats and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) eight seats. /GazetaExpress/
