Albin Kurti, Vetevendosje leader who is nominated to run for prime minister for 6 October elections, has visited on Wednesday the medieval Fortress of Novobrdo located in northern Kosovo, inhabited mainly by Serbs.
Kurti from Novobrdo said that an investigation needs to be lunched to shed light on reasons why a company from Serbia won the tender for restoration of fortress. The fortress dating from the 14th century is protected under law having been designated a Special Protective Zone. Kosovo Institute for Protection of Monuments has protested last week after a Serbian company hired to implement the restoration works on Novobrdo fortress, was seen tearing down a facade with a bulldozer causing controversy on the ability of the company to restore this cultural treasure of Kosovo. Also Kosovo authorities have questioned the legal rights of Serbian company interfering Kosovo’s cultural heritage. The project was implemented UNESCO and financed by the European Union. /GazetaExpress/
