Member of the European Parliament and standing Rapporteur for Kosovo, Viola von Cramon-Taubadel, has opposed the no-confidence motion in Albin Kurti’s Government initiated by the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK). Cramon urged the LDK not to proceed the motion on toppling the Government amidst coronavirus pandemic saying that this would have catastrophic consequences for the country.

Leader of the LDK Isa Mustafa in a televised interview said Cramon-Taubadel’s statements are unexemplary adding that it is not her role to interfere internal political developments in Kosovo, Gazeta Express reports. “I see a serious interference of the European Parliament representative. To me this is completely unjust, unexemplary, because it is not her role to interfere internal political situation and consider that 2/3 of Kosovo Parliament MPs are irresponsible who decided to vote the motion of no-confidence, because it is huge responsibility to declare as irresponsible such a wide support of Parliament,” Mustafa told RTV21.

Leader of the LDK said that Cramon-Taubadel with her public statements showed she is siding with a certain political party and she does not represent properly interests of Kosovo in the European Parliament. “It is obvious that she is politically biased and does not represent properly interests of Kosovo in the European Parliament,” Mustafa said. Mustafa during an interview with RTV21 has commented also on the demarche initiated by Germany and France asking the LDK not to proceed with the no-confidence motion in Government. According to Mustafa during the time he served as prime minister he never asked any of the countries to sent demarche to any of political parties, although as he said during his term in office as prime minister certain parties released teargas in Parliament chamber and were involved in violent actions, a clear reference to the Vetevendosje party.

The LDK and Vetevendosje have decided to split the coalition after only 52 days in Government because of disagreements over the dialogue, tariffs on Serbian goods and relations with the US. Regardless of requests from Germany and France, the LDK proceeded the no-confidence vote in Parliament which was supported by 2/3 of MPs toppling Albin Kurti’s Government. /GazetaEpress/
