Pristina International Airport has completed work on the extension of its runway, upgrade of the Instrument Landing System (ILS) and taxiways.
The project, valued at over 33 million euros, included the lengthening of the runway from 2.560 metres to 3.050 metres, as well as the upgrade of the ILS from category II to category IIIb, enabling aircraft to land in more adverse weather conditions, including dense fog.
Minister of Environment, Spatial Planning, and Infrastructure, Liburn Aliu, said that concluding of this project is an important milestone and would have positive impact on air transport in Kosovo and created conditions for the future of transport of goods. Aliu also said that installation of a high-tech equipment on weather forecast reduces the possibility of cancelling flights from and in Pristina Airport. He said the new investments make Pristina International Airport competitive in the region.
KFOR Commander, Ferenc Kajari, who attended the ceremony
to mark the completion of the work said the Airport of Pristina said extending
of runway and infrastructure improvements represent a positive step for
aviation in Kosovo and in general for the Western Balkan region. /GazetaExpress/
