Kosovo President Osmani receives a letter from Biden: Our partnership is rooted in common values

Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani received a congratulatory letter from the US President Joe Biden, who congratulated her on behalf of the American people on her election as the head of state, online media report referring to a press release issued by the Kosovo President’s Office.

“President Biden mentioned the good relations between the two countries and the long-term partnership embedded in common values, pointing out the personal relationship of the Biden family with Kosovo. In this context, the US President mentioned his son Beau who served in Kosovo with the US peacekeeping forces, as stated in the letter ” for the advancement of peace and of the rule of law,” Biden wrote.

Further in the letter, President Biden emphasized that he would work with President Osmani on priority issues related to the strengthening of the rule of law, fight against corruption, protection of the rights of minorities and religious communities, and recovery from the consequences of the Covid 19 pandemic, economic development as well as securing a sustainable energy future. President Biden also responded to President Osmani’s request for US assistance with vaccines, based on her letter of 19 March. President Biden stressed that with the increase in the number of vaccines, the US will work together with partners to distribute them and that his team will be in contact with President Osmani to achieve this goal.  President Biden’s letter also states that the United States supports the continuation of the dialogue with Serbia.

“The United States will continue to support efforts to ensure lasting peace and productive dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, and ultimately a comprehensive normalization agreement, which we believe should be centered on mutual recognition” Biden wrote. /GazetaExpress/
