Students with prison uniforms protest against isolation

“Kosovo Black Hole of Europe!” “Stop Isolation!” “Vote Demarcation” these were some of the placards unveiled on Wednesday by Kosovo students who protested in front of Parliament asking MPs to ratify the Agreement on border demarcation with Montenegro.

A group of students have staged a protest on Wednesday in Pristina asking MPs to ratify the demarcation with Montenegro, which is one of the last criteria for Kosovo to get visa liberalisation with the EU. The protest came after failed attempts of Parliament to vote the disputed deal. The Draft Law on ratification of the state border between Kosovo and Montenegro was not ratified after ruling parties failed to get 80 votes out of 120 seated parliament. The opposition party of Vetevendosje is opposing the deal with the justification that Kosovo is losing territory. MPs of Srpska List, which is part of the ruling coalition have boycotted last week’s voting and it remains unknown whether they will support the deal. Ratification of demarcation with Montenegro, and delivering results in fighting organised crime and corruption are the two remaining criteria for Kosovo to get visa liberalisation.
