Merkel’s advisor in Pristina urges ratification of demarcation

Jan Hecker, foreign policy adviser to German Chancellor Angela Merkel is visiting Kosovo when he is meeting institutional leaders. The German senior state official has urged Kosovo MPs to ratify the Agreement on border demarcation with Montenegro.


Hecker was received by Speaker of Assembly, Kadri Veseli, when they discussed current political developments, especially the border agreement with Montenegro. Since 2015, Hecker was refugee policy coordinator in Merkel’s Office, whereas from October 2017 he replaced Christoph Heusgen as chief foreign policy adviser to Chancellor Merkel. Heusgen has returned as German Ambassador to the United Nations.
