Kosovo Parliament has elected on Thursday Fehmi Mehmeti as the new head of the country’s Central Bank.
In a secret vote Mehmeti won 60 votes out of 110 MPs who attended the voting process during Thursday’s session of Parliament. Among the shortlisted candidates for Governor’s position at the Central Bank of Kosovo (CBK) were also Shkendije Himaj, Besnik Bislimi, and Safet Merovci. The new governor has been elected after former governor Bedri Hamza left this position and became minister of Finances. Fehmi Mehmeti was appointed acting governor on 11 September 2017.
